RCG were made to work hard in South Wales but it was Rhodri Carlton-Jones that proved the difference. The fly-half contributed 18 points, to add to another try from Mike Jones as the North Walians claimed the 23-16 win.

Rhydyfelin also had to grind out a 17-7 triumph but edged past Ystrad Rhondda thanks to a brace of tries from Gavin Close.

Meanwhile Penalta ran in six tries as they put Tredegar to the sword in a 45-23 thriller. Kieran Mahoney bagged a double, while Gareth Edwards, Dan Parry, Andrew Jenkins and Lucas Edwards also crossed the whitewash.

Elsewhere Treorchy claimed a 30-20 triumph over Gilfach Goch, despite being reduced to 14-men in the first-half, to hand captain James Summers an almost perfect 200 club appearance.

Lewis Ryan was the hero at Duffryn Pennar Parc, racing clear for a hat-trick of tries as Ynysybwl claimed a 45-27 away win over Mountain Ash.

In Division Two East Fleur de Lys were determined to bounce back from their 54-3 hammering at the hands on Bedlinog last week. And they completed their objective with a brace of tries from Gareth Morris to secure a hard-fought 14-5 victory over Tylerstown.

Garndiffaith were also celebrating on Saturday night having claimed a 41-25 triumph over Rhymney. Danny Pearce was worth his weight in gold, having scored two of his side’s four tries, but Rhymney could also take solace from a try-scoring bonus-point.

Elsewhere, it was tight between Abercynon and Llanishen but the home side crossed three times to secure a 20-17 win.

In Division Three East 11-points from Daniel Haile was enough to see Abertillery break their duck this campaign with an 11-10 win over Abergavenny.

Elsewhere Fairwater claimed an enthralling 29-18 victory over Nantymoel. The Cardiff-club crossed for four tries to wrap up the bonus-point, with Jack Lee, Dean Jones and Anton Phillips all racing over the whitewash.

In Five East Kyle Sterry racked up 22-points to help Llanhilleth beat Usk 47-12.

There was last minute drama in Five South East as Caerau Ely snatched a converted a try to claim a share of the spoils with Blackwood Stars in a 15-all draw at Trelai Park.

Finally, in Six South East, Wayne Da-Cruz cruised over four times as Llanrumney crushed Cardiff Saracens in a 109-10 home rout.
