The victims this week were Ammanford, although the home side were stretched right to the limit before emerging with their unbeaten record still intact in a thrilling 33-32 victory.
Outside-half Paul Smith was the hero of the day as he picked up 18 points with a try, three penalties and two conversions. Opposite number Rhydian Morris scored two tries for the visitors, but it wasn’t enough to earn them a sensational second win of the season.
The only other unbeaten team in the division after three rounds is Llangennech, who went to the home of last season’s Division 2 West champions Glynneath and emerged triumphant by 17-12.
Waunarlwydd were the other team unbeaten going into the third weekend of fixtures, but they found the going too tough at Kidwelly, where they were beaten 15-10 with Gareth Rees kicking all the points for the home team with five penalties.
The other three games in the division all ended home victories with Andrew Williams, four penalties steering Loughor to a 17-16 win over Carmarthen Athletic and Cwmllynell four tries grabbing them a bonus point in a 30-15 triumph over Skewen.
There was more misery for Aberavon Quins as they were remained pointless at the bottom of the table having lost their third consecutive games, this time 27-10 at Kenfig Hill.
In Division 2 West, Seven Sisters maintained their winning ways by scoring 11 tries against Haverfordwest in a 66-7 win. The two Maesteg teams also made it three out of three with home triumphs. The Quins got their bonus point, beating Dunvant 31-14, while Maesteg won 23-9 against Taibach.
The biggest score of the weekend in Wales came in Division 6 West where former Principlaity Premiership side Tonmawr ran in 18 tries in their 115-0 thrashing of Aberavon Naval.
It was their second consecutive match where they hadn’t conceded a point having defeated South Gower 34-0 in their previous clash. Their win however, meant they are top of the table, four points ahead of second place sides South Gower and Pantyffynnon who defeated Fall Bay 19-17 and Mynydd-Y-Garreg 19-13 respectively.
