Defiant Drovers hang on

Llandovery kept up their perfect start to the season with a fourth consecutive bonus point win over Swansea.

But the Drovers did not have it all their own way as the determined visitors made the home side work hard for their 25-20 victory.

Llandovery’s quicksilver scrum half Rhodri Williams was a constant menace, racing away in the first quarter for two stunning tries and forever testing the Swansea defence.

Fly half Sam Davies struck a drop goal for the All Whites but most of Swansea’s work was in defence.

Swansea slowly came back into the game and their resolve was rewarded with a try in the corner from replacement Jamie Thomas. Davies converted to make it 15-10 at the break.

An early second half try for Llandovery from flanker Luke Kendall after good work from wing Sam Soul was answered by a Davies penalty before the home bonus point came with a try from flanker Shaun Miles.

Swansea refused to give up though and after some good build up, the excellent No. 8 Dan Baker crossed for Swansea. And with Davies adding the extras, the visitors trailed by just five.

In an exciting finish Williams all but got his hat trick of tries but at the end of the day a losing bonus point was no less than Swansea deserved.
