Nigel Way, the WRU’s Coach Development Officer for the Dragons region, was in attendance to give advice on club audits, how to access funding, coaching qualifications and a lot more besides.

Delegates were introduced to the new style of the WRU’s club coaching coordinator which gives clubs an opportunity to operate a living database that can be changed and upgraded on a more frequent basis.

This makes each club’s annual audit a simpler process, therefore giving club officers and WRU club support staff an up to date view of coaching structures at over 60 clubs within the region.

By appointing a club coaching coordinator, clubs will also be able to access additional funding through the WRU audit.

Coaches were also given up to date advice on funding streams and application methods to aid coach education costs.

“I will make a visit to any club in the region to help process funding applications,” said Way.

“It’s important that we get as many clubs involved in this process as possible.”

These events will take place on a quarterly basis and for more details on how to become a club coaching coordinator and improve the running of your club contact Nigel Way at Nway@wru.co.uk.
