Given the weather conditions, it was never going to be the greatest of spectacles to witness but both Penallta and Tylorstown, to their credit, wanted a fast flowing game and some good tries were scored as a result.
Sporting their brand new kit, Penallta were eventually winners in a tough battle. Adding to her current tally of six tries this season, the ever brilliant Abbie Taylor crossed the whitewash in her fifthconsecutive game; the No 8 has been instrumental in the side’s success of late.
Other try scorers were full back Chelsea Cashman and centre Gemma Williams who bagged herself a brace of tries for the afternoon. Converting two of the tries from outside half was Bethan Fox-Mabe.
Tylorstown, however, never gave up, and were rewarded with a good try by flanker Mia Mahoney which was converted by outside half Danni Isbell. Both teams will be looking forward to the return fixture at the beginning of November as this may be the title decider.
Next week, Penallta Miner Birds will travel to Welshpool Ladies. The Birds will be travelling full of confidence on the back of their win in the reverse fixture back in September.
Penallta Miner Birds are always on the lookout for new and experienced players to join the newly formed side. Any girls interested, contact Team Manager Anne Williams on 07875 103996.
