Bridgend look for revenge

Bridgend Ravens continue their British & Irish Cup campaign this weekend, taking on Cardiff at the Riverside Hardware Brewery Field on Saturday (KO 2:30pm).

The Ravens will be keen to record a victory after their 16-16 half-time score against Ulster A turned in to a 49-19 defeat last weekend in Belfast.

The Ravens are without Ross Jones who kicked 14 points against the Northern Irish region but Jamie Murphy slots in to the fly-half position after a number of games at fullback. Ashley Evans moves from 13 to 15 while Steve Winn and Nathan Edwards pair up in the centre.

The pack is largely unchanged from the one that took the field at Deramore Park with Marc Thomas starting at prop in front of Owen Williams and Lloyd Peers replacing Owain Lloyd in the second row.

Shaun O’Rourke is also named amongst the replacements for the first time since sustaining an injury when the sides met at the Riverside Hardware Brewery Field in the Principality Premiership back in September, Cardiff triumphing 38-11 on that occasion.

Bridgend will be keen to exact revenge this time out but Cardiff will also be hungry for the spoils, after they lost their opening B & I Cup match 23-14 at home to Bristol. Either way, the stage seems set for a thrilling Welsh derby.
