The Black & Ambers are on a bit of a roll, winning their last five matches including a rare win at the Gnoll last Saturday.
They will be looking to extend this winning run and record their first double of the season having won with an injury time try from leading Premiership try scorer Elliot Frewen at the Talbot Athletic Ground in the first league match of the season.
Newport recorded the double in 2009/10 winning 27-20 at Aberavon and 28-21 at Newport but since then the Wizards have won three of the last five matches including consecutive wins at Rodney Parade.
The league record between the clubs shows that Newport have won 18 of the 29 league fixtures with Aberavon victorious in 11.
Aberavon are currently eleventh and Newport seventh in the Principality Premiership..
Newport ring the changes – some enforced through injury and wing Mike Poole gets another start following his run out at the Gnoll last Saturday.
Young centre Dominic Franchi, who made his debut at the Gnoll also makes a start. Premier League leading try scorer Elliot Frewen is on the bench.
