Cuthbert: All Blacks reaction

Wales winger Alex Cuthbert was left disappointed following his side’s 33-10 defeat to New Zealand at the Millennium Stadium.

A devastating first-half performance from the All Blacks saw them lead 23-0 at the break and although Cuthbert and Scott Williams went over for Wales in the second-half, the game was already up.

Tries from Liam Messam, Tony Woodcock and Luke Romano secured an easy win for Steve Hansen’s side with the boot of Aaron Cruden doing the rest.

And although Wales rallied with an improved second-half performance, it was too little too late.

Here’s what Cuthbert had to say immediately after the game:

“The Millennium Stadium was an awesome atmosphere but we’re gutted with the result. We should have showed up better in the first-half, it took us 40 minutes to get into the game and show what we can do.

“Obviously we had three or four injuries which aren’t good for any team.

“Fair play to the boys who came off the bench, they made a hell of an impact. They came on, knew their roles and we ended up putting a performance in the end.

“We still know we’ve got a lot more to improve on and how we’ve been playing.

“We need to put an 80 minute performance in and we’ve got to take the positives for next week.

“We’re all looking forward to Australia. We saw on the summer tour how close we are and we’ve got to take heart from that.

“I think we’ve got to keep the ball a bit better and make sure we keep the phases going. When we had the phases going we got two tries from it so we’ve got to keep the ball and work from there.”
