The Cardiff Blues tight-head was thrown into action against New Zealand after just minutes of the ferocious clash as Aaron Jarvis suffered a knee injury.
Jarvis has been ruled out of the Dove Men Series clash with Australia on Saturday, with Andrews and Samson Lee the contenders to pull on the number three jersey.
“Samson will be joining the squad. He is obviously going to be involved this week,” said forwards coach McBryde.
“I thought Scott Andrews, considering he has not had that much game-time this season, was able to lay a platform at scrum-time.
“He was up against a formidable opponent in Tony Woodcock, and Andrew Hore is known as a scrummaging hooker, so to come out of that test in that positive manner was hugely encouraging.
“I thought he communicated very well with the rest of the front-row. What was hugely pleasing on top of that work he did in the tight, was his work in the loose as well.
“He was hugely effective. Playing against the world champions, you won’t come up against a sterner test than that.”
Wales’ medical team are continuing to assess a number of their wounded stars and a training match scheduled with Cardiff Blues today had to be cancelled.
But McBryde is hopeful that the injured players will come through training later this week.
“We can’t confirm anything at this moment in time,” added McBryde.
“We are going to give some players as much time as possible, so we are looking at Thursday, really.
“Ian Evans took a part in training this morning, which was a positive, but we are not forcing anybody. We haven’t got great numbers in training, so Thursday will be the important day for us.
“We had planned to do a session against Cardiff Blues this morning just so they could provide numbers and provide us with a little bit more intensity. We’ve decided that isn’t the way to go, really. We need to work a bit smarter and just get the organisational stuff out of the way today. Today has been a lighter day.
“It is something we’ve had to deal with all the way through the autumn, really. We had a number of injuries coming into the series, so we always knew it was going to be a bit of a test of strength in depth. Not as stern a test as we’ve had to face because of injuries. It’s not ideal, it does affect the consistency within the squad.
“But having said that, it has provided others with a great opportunity. Liam Williams, Aaron Shingler, Scott Andrews, the substitutes really made an impression.
“The second-half against New Zealand was hugely encouraging from that point of view. Hopefully we can start this start from where we left off last Saturday.
“I hope we can keep the starting team on the pitch a little bit longer this Saturday in order to exert a bit more pressure.”
