France have held the upper hand over Wales in Paris, with the men in red only claiming three wins since 1975 but both teams go into the match with disappointing first round defeats in this year’s championship.
Toulon prop Gethin Jenkins will be using first hand knowledge when he comes face to face with the French front row.
“We were a bit disappointed with the scrums last week,” Jenkins said. “We had two decisions go against us (against Ireland) in the first 20 minutes, and then there weren’t many scrums after that. This week is a bit different.
“I know first-hand how much the French love their scrums, so it’s going to be a tough battle. Most of the games we’ve lost (Wales have suffered eight successive defeats) have not been by many points, and it’s about having the mental belief to turn that around.
“When we won the Grand Slam last season, we didn’t win games by many points.”
