The home side fell behind to an early try from Gower prop Chris Forshaw but roused themselves in a comeback which saw them secure a 27-10 victory.
Fly half Scott Turner got Gwent back into it with a 15th minute penalty and from then on, his side had the better of the encounter.
Centre Taylor Dimmick then gave Gwent the lead and Turner added the extra two for a five point lead.
However, just as it looked like Gwent would run away with it, wing Ryan Hopkins levelled things up with a score for Gower. The conversion was missed but the scores were level.
If the first half was fairly level, the second was a different story as Gower failed to score any further points.
Turner added another seven points and with Dimmick adding his second and No. 8 Todd James also crossing, Gwent ran out comfortable victors.
