After a thrilling comeback victory over Newport last weekend, Bridgend went into the game full of confidence but were nowhere near their best as they fell to a 3-15 loss.
Bridgend started on the back foot and were not helped when Sam Campbell was replaced early on by Nick Hopson – Campbell sustaining a knee injury after some sustained Swansea pressure.
It was to get worse for Bridgend. Lewis Williams put a shot at goal wide and with Swansea counter attacking quickly, powerful No. 8 Dan Baker surged over for a try. Nicky Thomas added the extras as the visitors went into the lead.
With the boot dominating the game, stalemate was the order of the day though Tom Grabham and Nathan Edwards went close for the home side before Williams kicked them back into it.
Swansea returned to dominance soon after though and only a Nathan Edwards tackle saved a certain score before the home side saw Lloyd Evans sent to the bin just before the half time whistle.
The visitors started the second half the way they started the first. Some quick ball saw ex-Raven Rhys Williams score out wide after a lightning backs move. Thomas sliced the conversion wide.
The All Whites continued to dominate and only saw a third try ruled out for a forward pass in the build-up.
It only seemed a matter of time before Swansea scored but the Ravens fought back. And although sustained pressure saw Rob Dudley Jones sent to the sin bin, Bridgend could not get past the Swansea defence.
With Bridgend penning the All Whites in their own five metre line, ex Raven Mathew Davies was the next to be carded. Matthew Norman soon joined him after being penalised at the scrum and with Swansea down to 12, the Ravens had the impetus.
But after a crazy five minutes, Bridgend were denied a penalty try and somehow the bottom of the table side got themselves clear.
And despite being down to the bare bones, the bottom side held on for what was only their second win of the seaoson.
