If the playing surface is still deemed unsuitable, the game will be played on Tuesday evening.
Despite the wet weather, Blackwood Director of Rugby Matthew Back admits the carrot of a Millennium Stadium final is a huge incentive to his players.
Back has seen his side combine a mixed league season – they are currently mid table in the Championship– with a cup run which has seen them get the better of Pontypool and Glamorgan Wanderers.
And despite being the lowest ranked team left in the competition, Back says his players are motivated to claim a famous cup scalp.
“Our boys won’t have many chances to play at the Millennium Stadium so it’s a massive carrot,” he admitted.
“We’re under no illusions that of all the teams left in the competition, we are the lowest ranked.
“I have great respect for Carmarthen Quins, they are a top team and we’ll have to play well and make sure the defence we’ve shown in recent games is doubled if we’re going to get a result. If we do that we have a chance.”
The home side may be underdogs against a Quins side who have played some fluent, attacking rugby in the Premiership this season but Back says his squad have what it takes to get a result.
“We have a small squad of 26 players and it’s great that we’ll get a chance to use most of them at the weekend,” he added.
“It’s a game we’ve been looking forward to but at the same time it’s just another 80 minutes – albeit against a very good Premiership side.
“If we get something out of the game we’ll be ecstatic. It won’t ruin our season if we don’t but we’ll make sure we’re as composed as we can be.”
Quins meanwhile face a second consecutive away game after they saw their play-off ambitions hit at Sardis Road last week.
Defeat to Pontypridd, albeit in a game where they never gave up, means Steve Williams’ side will be desperate to bounce back.
“We have seen Blackwood play but we are preparing as if we are playing any other game on Saturday,” said the Quins head coach.
“We’re going through exactly the same preparation and focusing on the things we can do to stop them playing well.
“From our point of view it’s the quarter final of the cup so no one needs motivating.”
While Quins pushed league leaders Pontypridd hard, Williams knows his must play better to challenge the sides at the top of the table.
And with this in mind, he is poised to make a number of changes for Saturday’s cup encounter.
“We’ll be a lot different personnel wise this week to the team that featured against Pontypridd,” he added.
“We weren’t pleased with a number of things in that game and we’ve looked at those areas in training.
“Our kick chase against Pontypridd was poor and when they counterattacked we weren’t up to speed defensively. We want to see an improvement on that.
“There’s a lot to play for. It’s been something we’ve tried not to think about with the league but now it’s here and we’re looking forward to it.”
