Tata Steel tightened their grip on fourth place with a hard fought win at home against Bonymaen. The visitors were abrasive and plucky throughout, but were outscored by three tries to nil, to go down 15-6. Impressive scrum-half Martin Luckwell opened the scoring for Tata. Lock Ben Davis crashed over to top off a strong performance, while flanker Rob Hill’s five-pointer completed the scoring for the hosts. Bonymaen’s points came from the boot of Robert Cunliffe.

Llanharan suffered a shock 19-10 defeat at home to basement battlers Pontypool. Flanker James Benjamin was the hero for Ponty as he slid over for two vital scores. Prop Sam Cook also trundled over the whitewash with Clayton Gullis converting two of the three tries. It was only Ponty’s second victory of the season. Defeat for the home team has dealt their hopes of a fifth place finish a severe blow. Tries from Nathan Huish and Tom Piper failed to turn the tide. Llanharan are seventh with Ponty second from bottom.

Bridgend Athletic turned over high-flying Narberth in a 15-14 nail biter. Narberth’s two tries were not enough to halt the clinical home side. Narberth remain fifth and are five points behind Tata in fourth. Bridgend remain ninth but have closed the gap on eighth placed Beddau, to two points.
