Yesterday’s draw pitted the two sides against each other with the winner going through to the Millennium Stadium final. The other semi-final will see Carmarthen Quins take on the winner of Ebbw Vale against Pontypridd after their quarter final was delayed due to snow.
The two teams will try again on Saturday but Horgan is more concerned with how to get his side into the final.
“It will certainly make for an interesting semi-final,” he said of the tie which will be played on the weekend of April 13.
“Neath against Aberavon is never an ordinary game, it’s something special and to have the tie as a major semi-final match is quite unique.”
Horgan’s side were convincing winners over Bargoed last weekend while the Wizards got the better of Swansea in their clash at St Helen’s.
The performance pleased Horgan but he says there is more to come from his side.
“We came out to get a win and move to the next round – that was the real priority. Also to score 39 points against Bargoed is no mean feat so that’s a big positive,” he said.
“However we put six or seven boys on at half-time and they weren’t really in the game which I’m disappointed with. I’m also disappointed that we didn’t finish off all of our line-breaks. There’s always something to work on in this game.”
And with Neath meeting Aberavon on Easter Sunday before taking each other on in the cup two weeks later, they will certainly know each other well by the time the semi-final kicks off.
“We have them in the Principality Premiership first this Sunday at The Gnoll of course and we then have a week off,” confirmed Horgan.
“So it’s consecutive games against Aberavon which will certainly make for interesting couple of weeks.”
