Last Saturday’s match was abandoned with Eugene Cross Park deemed unfit for purpose but the two sides are confident the game will go ahead tomorrow.
The winner of the tie will face Carmarthen Quins in the semi-final but Pontypridd know they face anything but an easy task.
The Steelmen are flying high at the top of the Championship and have lost just one game in the league so far this season.
“It’s a massive challenge for us going up to Ebbw Vale,” said Pontypridd fly half Simon Humberstone.
“It’s nice to turn our attentions away from the league this weekend but it’s going to be a huge challenge.
“They’ll be right up for it but after last year, when we were beaten in the final, it’s a competition we want to do well in.”
Last year’s final defeat to Cross Keys clearly hurt the Pontypridd squad but they are now just two games away from another Millennium Stadium final.
Humberstone added: “We’re really looking forward to it. We’re only worried about Ebbw Vale and then Carmarthen if we make it that far.
“It’s going to be a tough root to the final if we make it.”
For Saturday’s quarter final, Pontypridd have been depleted by a number of injuries. Still absent are long term casualties prop Pat Palmer and winger Lewis Williams both recovering from shoulder operations. Full back Geraint Walsh is out also with a shoulder strain, winger Chris Clayton with ankle damage and hooker Darran Harris with a neck problem.
Centre Adam Thomas and flanker Rhys Shellard are away with the Wales Sevens squad but Cory Hill and hooker Jack Dando both make a welcome return from persistent leg injuries to take their place on the bench.
After last weekend’s cancellation, Ebbw Vale chairman Jonathan Jones is confident the game will go ahead second time around.
“The forecast is pretty good and we’re quite hopeful to play,” he said.
“Pontypridd are a very good side but we’re playing well and it will be a good benchmark. I think we’ll push them close if not get the win, we’re quite hopeful.
“Last year we got to the semi-finals on tries scored. We drew with Cross Keys who went on to win it so we’d like to go one better.
“It will be great for the town and the coaches and players who work so hard.”
