Baker try launches Swansea win

There was a huge sigh of relief from the home supporters at St Helen’s as they saw Swansea won only their third match of the season against Newport in the Principality Premiership

Swansea were in control throughout the match and took a half-time lead with their No 8 Dan Baker scoring their first try.
Newport attempted a comeback iat the start of the second half and did so with a couple of Geraint O’Driscoll penalties. However, it was Andrew Paul who scored Swansea’s second try of the afternoon which sealed their 24-9 victory.

Llandovery climbed into the play-off places win a 10-5 away win at Bridgend. It was a poor first half with just a James Garland penalty separating the two sides, but the game sprang into life in the 70th minute when Richie Pugh went over the line for a Llandovery try converted by Rhodri Williams.

Bridgend responded in the closing moments of the game with a Tom Grabham try. The result leaves Bridgend fourth from bottom with just two games to go.

In the other result, Llanelli made int three wins in a row after their narrow 7-6 victory over second place Bedwas. Nick Reynolds scored the only try of the match.
