Despite missing a couple of second half kicks at goal, Williams produced a superb all round performance in Saturday’s semi-final win over Llandovery, scoring a try and kicking two conversions and a penalty.
Williams’ late try secured a 29-20 victory, the fly-half collecting his own kick through to cross for the last of Llanelli’s four scores.
And now with a final against Pontypridd to prepare for, Buchanan is hoping his playmaker can produce a repeat performance in the final at Sardis Road.
“He controlled the game very well, it was Jordan’s best performance of the season for us,” said Buchanan on Williams’ contribution against Llandovery.
“He’s a talent and an exciting young rugby player. The Premiership is a great development tool and hopefully he can go on to bigger and better things.
“We’ve given him an opportunity at fly-half and when he performs like he did on Saturday, it’s great for the team.
“If he continues in the same way then hopefully he will progress and make it to the next level.”
Saturday’s competitive local derby at Church Bank will be perfect preparation for Llanelli as this weekend’s final will be held at the home of Pontypridd.
Dale McIntosh’s side boast a near perfect record this season, losing just once in the league all season. That, coupled with home advantage, suggests Llanelli face a tough ask.
But with this being the third consecutive final between the two clubs, with each boasting a win apiece, Saturday evening’s fixture is far from a foregone conclusion.
Buchanan added: “There’s no doubt Llandovery have been very consistent this season. They led the league for a period and it was always going to be a tough game.
“I thought the quality of the match came to the forefront and luckily we got the win. Now we’ve got a chance in the final and we’re looking forward to it.
“Pontypridd have only lost one game in the league all season and are SWALEC Cup champions. But this is a one off occasion and we know what we have to do.
“It’s an opportunity for us to use the experience we’ve gained over the years to our advantage.”
