The 16 team competition, which includes all 12 Principality Premiership sides plus Ebbw Vale, Bargoed, RGC 1404 and a Wales Students side, takes place at Cardiff Arms Park on Sunday, August 25.
Keys will play Bridgend Ravens in the opening round of matches, a draw which has also seen Pontypridd and Neath paired together in the first game of the day.
“We’ve always been supportive of local sevens competitions in our area so we’re looking forward to putting ourselves on the national stage,” said Woods after Friday’s draw.
“We’ll be playing our best available side so we’re really excited about it.
“When we’re there on the day we’ll be going all out to win and it will be good to put a marker down ahead of the new season. We’ll make sure everyone is available and we’re right behind it.”
The Foster’s National Sevens is a new competition, giving more players the chance to impress in that form of the game and providing sides with added game time in the run up to the regular season.
Woods added: “I think it’s a really good adventure and it draws attention to the Premiership which is great.
“Also playing on the new pitch at the Arms Park will be good and a learning experience for the season to come.”
Last year, Woods saw a couple of poor results in the last few matches cost his side a place in the play-offs. It meant the Gwent outfit finished in fifth place, a place behind Llanelli and Bedwas who finished third and fourth respectively.
Looking to go one better this season, Woods has added Aaron Bramwell and Reuben Tucker to his squad but has kept the majority of a side he thinks is good enough to challenge for the title.
“Pre-season has gone very well. We were a bit let down with ourselves after losing out on a play-off place by a point last year but we’ve got to start with a bang,” said Woods.
“We’ve got a lot of rugby in pre-season to make sure we’re ready for the British & Irish Cup play-offs and we’ll take it from there.
“We’ve got a strong squad with a few additions and we’re looking forward to going one better than last year.”
