The game at the Riverside Hardware Brewery Field on August 17 will provide a key opportunity for both sides to test combinations ahead of the new season as well as attracting large numbers of the town’s rugby community.
The two sides met in the SWALEC Cup last season, the Ravens 31-3 winners on that occasion, but their next clash will be more about performance than result with the new season fast approaching.
Fans are invited to head to the ground for midday with food, drinks and a hog roast on sale pre-game. There will also be an opportunity for supporters to collect and order their 2013-14 Season tickets.
For the younger members of the family, there’ll be a bouncy castle and rugby-based games delivered by the WRU and Ospreys Community Rugby teams. At half time, the finals to the pre-game rugby competitions will be held with local teams also playing tag rugby.
The main game kicks-off at 2.30pm and with local rivalry at stake, there looks sure to be plenty of offer to enthuse supporters.
Club spokesman for Bridgend Ravens, Alun Wylde commented: “The Ravens Fun Day combined with the exciting match against our good friends from Bridgend Athletic is the perfect opportunity to launch the season.
“This year we are determined to re-establish Bridgend Ravens as a traditional family focused rugby club at the heart of the community.
“We encourage families to come along and enjoy pre-match entertainment before watching the very best rugby Bridgend has to offer.”
