The two day event on Friday, August 9 and Saturday, August 10, sees the start of what will hopefully become an annual fund raising event on behalf of Velindre at Bedwas RFC.

Bedwas Rocks is set to become one of the largest summer events in the area. Over the two days, the Principality Premiership side will host a plethora of bands including One Track Mind, together with a range of community activities.

After returning from the British and Irish Lion’s victorious tour of Australia, Jones will officially open proceedings on the Saturday night alongside former Welsh international Rhys Williams. The festival also marks the completion of the new pavilion at Bedwas, built with assistance from the South East Wales Community Economic Development and European Regional Development Fund.

“This is a music festival with a difference” explained Ron Davies, Commercial Manager at Bedwas RFC.

“Not only is there music across a variety of genre, there are activities for the whole family. The Welsh Rugby Union will be here with their mobile pavilion, the Caerphilly Council Sports Development team will have an inflatable football pitch and GE Aeronautics, one of the festival’s sponsors, will also have a simulator on site.

“The younger visitors will be well catered for with bouncy castles, face painting, a circus skills workshop and a climbing wall to name a few. As part of the festivities we will also be holding the first Welsh National Air Guitar competition which has attracted a lot of attention.”

Profits from the Bedwas Rocks festival will go to Velindre Cancer Centre – the largest non-surgical cancer hospital in Wales providing Radiotherapy, Chemotherapy and other specialised anti-cancer treatments for over half the people diagnosed with cancer in Wales.
