The Welsh All Blacks have been put through some rigorous fitness sessions ahead of the new campaign as they look to become the fittest side in the Principality Premiership.
Now, Edward is preparing his side for the first of their pre-season friendlies this Saturday – one of three games at The Gnoll in the space of a week.
English Division One club Rosslyn Park will provide the first opposition with Edwards determined to cast his eye over his squad during the 80 minutes.
“The players have been training hard and we now can’t wait to take to the field,” he said.
“We have a large squad in training and having three friendlies at home means we can give all fit and available lads a run out before our first competitive game against Bridgend Ravens in the British & Irish Cup.
“We look forward to playing in front of a big crowd against Rosslyn Park to start with. They are a team I know will test us to the limit.”
Neath disappointed in their league campaign last season and although they reached the SWALEC Cup final at the Millennium Stadium, Edwards knows his side have plenty of improvement to make.
In that respect, these pre-season games are vital with Saturday’s clash with Rosslyn Park kicking-off at 7.45pm.
Cardiff Metropolitan University are Neath’s second opponents on Wednesday 21st August (kick-off 7.30pm) while the Blacks host Welsh Division One side Carmarthen Athletic on Friday, August 23rd (kick off 7.30pm) in their very first meeting at The Gnoll.
