It was a double success for Wales Sevens international Webber after he took home the Colin Hillman trophy as player of the tournament on Sunday.

And after Dale McIntosh’s side secured the title with a comfortable 57-5 win over Llandovery, the Sardis Road club are already looking forward to their next challenge.

Webber was one of a number of try scorers in the final, adding to his impressive personal tally from throughout the day.

Geraint Walsh and Dafydd Lockyer both added a brace of tries as the Drovers were barely given a sniff.

“It was my first time in a Pontypridd jersey and I really enjoyed it,” said Webber, who has signed from Ystrad Rhondda for this season.

“Hopefully we can continue to get better and go on to win the double again this year.

“It’s been an amazing tournament and an awesome crowd. I think the tournament can only grow from here and hopefully next year it can be even bigger.”

Webber’s pace and movement is well known to those who follow the IRB Sevens circuit and it was again on show at the Arms Park on Sunday.

And with fellow international teammates Rhys Shellard and Owen Jenkins also featuring for Pontypridd, they proved too much for the opposition.

“I’m not sure how many tries I scored but it was a team effort and all the boys chipped in,” said Webber.

“We’re really glad to get the win in the end. All the training we do with the Wales Sevens definitely helped me, it’s been an awesome experience and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

“I’m really proud of the boys and also happy to have my family here.”
