Women’s World Cup draw looms

The Women’s Rugby Wolrd Cup 2014 draw will be held tomorrow at Hotel de Ville, in Paris.

With less than a year until kick-off, anticipation and excitement is already building ahead of the pinnacle of the women’s Game. Champions New Zealand will be eagerly watching to see who they will be drawn against as they look to retain their crown in Paris next August.

The tournament takes place from August 1-17, with matches played at FFR Marcoussis, and the semi-finals and final played at Stade Jean Bouin in the French capital.

IRB Chairman Bernard Lapasset and FFR President Pierre Camou will be among those in attendance at the event, at the invitation of the Mayor of Paris. France captain Marie Alice Yahe and England’s Danielle Waterman, who starred in her country’s performance in 2010, will be among those on hand for the live draw.

The event will be streamed live on www.rwcwomens.com from 11:30.

The Draw:

The 12 teams qualified for Women’s Rugby World Cup 2014 are:

Band 1: New Zealand, England, Australia

Band 2: Canada, USA, France (Band 2)

Band 3: Ireland, Wales, Spain (Band 3)

Band 4: Kazakhstan, Samoa, South Africa (Band 4)

Teams will be drawn into three pools from the four bands. Match schedules will be announced at a later date.
