The 19 year old scrum half started his rugby at Bedwas playing for the Under 11 side on Sunday mornings, following in the footsteps of his father Peter Crane.

Crane spent last season honing his skills with Newbridge RFC and was instrumental in the Newbridge side that defeated Bedwas in pre-season, scoring a well worked individual try from 50 metres.

Bedwas Club Chairman Mark Lewis said: “It’s great to have home grown talent working their way through the junior system to gain a first team contract.

“Luke came on after 20 minutes against Aberavon on Friday night and played superbly delivering a man of the match performance, and fully deserving his place in the squad.”

Bedwas Head coach Steve Law added: “Luke is an exciting young talent that we have been watching for some time, his service delivery is superb and we will be expecting to play at more pace and width in view of this.

“Luke took his opportunity with both hands last week and I am hoping he can show the same consistency when he starts against Newport on Saturday.”
