The clash marks the fourth time the Ravens and Wizards have faced off this season. Aberavon have won two of the clashes (at the Talbot Athletic Ground) with Bridgend emerging victorious in October in a league clash at the Bridgend Ford Brewery Field. The Ravens will be desperate to level the mini-series up at 2-2 and progress into the next round of the cup.
The game is the first in charge for Paul Young, who has been handed control for this game in order to progress in his coaching badges. Young is clearly excited about the game on Saturday afternoon.
‘Being handed the reins for our cup clash against Aberavon has ensured an exciting start to my New Year,” he said.
“Whilst 2013 has been very frustrating for players, management and supporters alike and with much reflection across the Christmas period, it is clear, our mindset needs to be totally in tune, in order for our performances to transpire into wins.
“The Swalec Cup competition challenges us further and gives us another opportunity to develop that correct mindset as we go in search for a ‘complete’ performance.
“We have a talented, young group who are striving and learning all the time and feel this competition will allow them the freedom to express themselves.
“As usual the players have trained hard but it’s now time to deliver. I look forward to leading this group in the first round of what is sure to be an exciting game.”
