The Saints took a commanding lead early in the game thanks to tries from Simon Evans, Cameron Davies, Danny Hockin and Jordan Creaock. Andrew Collins added a penalty as the hosts dominated proceedings but Bargoed were still in the game at half time. James Pizey got their first try of the day and Josh Prosser added the conversion, before slotting over a penalty to make it 25-10 to Tata at half time.
Josh Pearse got a try and Prosser again converted as Bargoed fought back but Dan Cummings got a try at the other end for Tata and Collins added the extra two points. Tata secured the win and a bonus point but remain well behind Cardiff Met, who sit above them in sixth.
The only other game of the day saw Beddau mount a second-half fightback to secure a draw at the Welfare Ground.
Dwain Dyer and Hayden Palmer scored both of Newbridge’s tries in the first half and Kieron Meek’s boot converted both. He added to his side’s total with a penalty and they looked to be well in control at the break, despite Garyn Pearse’s converted try.
Trailing 17-10 at the re-start Beddau hit back and claimed a share of the points. Joe Popple grabbed a try and Reese Morgan added to his earlier conversion before kicking a penalty that levelled the scores. Both sides remain stuck in the bottom half of the table but the Green and Golds have moved above Blackwood in 12th.
