A day after Wales take on France at the Millennium Stadium, the two side’s Under 20’s meet at Parc Eirias, Colwyn Bay.
Both teams are unbeaten so far, Wales getting the better of Italy and Ireland while France have impressed with back-to-back victories over England and the Azzurri.
It means something has to give, as international rugby returns to north Wales.
“It’s the biggest match yet – France are two from two as well so it’s going to be a massive game for us,” said Dragons man Benjamin.
“It will be a big physical challenge but we’re really excited about it.”
After playing a bit part role in last season’s Six Nations campaign, Benjamin has stamped his mark on this year’s tournament. Featuring in a number of different positions across the back row, the Bedwas man has been a starring figure in the Welsh pack and was named man of the match in the 16-0 win over Ireland.
“I was selected last year but didn’t play much, I’m lucky to be involved this year,” he added.
“Competition for places is huge. Byron is willing to give everybody an opportunity if they deserve one and that’s the way it should be. The bigger picture is the World Cup and we want to get as many players as possible who have experience at this level.
“We want to keep producing good performances and we’re all driving each other on really.”
For Saturday’s meeting with Les Bleus, Wales head coach Byron Hayward has named six changes to his side. Dafydd Howells and Harri Evans return in the backs with captain Steffan Hughes switching to inside centre. Up front, Elliot Dee and Scott Matthews return at hooker and openside flanker respectively with Benjamin starting at No 8 this time around.
“We’ve looked at the French side and they’re strong throughout the whole squad,” said Benjamin.
“It’s a changed team from last year but in the back row and halfbacks, they’ve got a lot of flair and good, intelligent players. We’ll have to watch out for them.
“The scrum is a huge part of their game as are their line out drives. That’s something we handled well against Ireland and we want to bring that into the game with France.”
