Croesy dominated the first half with sustained periods of pressure and possession in the Gorseinon 22. This pressure led to three first half tries from Croesy, all of which were scored following efficient delivery of the ball from rucks.
Croesy’s tries were scored by Kate Gladwin, Charlotte Kembrey and Lee Hatherall. There were other opportunities for further scores but Croesy weren’t ruthless enough when camped on the Gorseinon try line for much of the first half.
A strong run by Becky Lewis through a number of Gorseinon players brought cheers from the crowd and this was symptomatic of her player of the match performance.
Gorseinon came out strongly in the second half to quickly bring the score back to 15-7 with a try from Sue Waters, converted well by Jadey Morgan.
This proved to be Gorseinon’s only serious attack on the Croesy line and once again Croesy spent much of the second half attacking close to the Gorseinon try line.
As the weather deteriorated, Croesy forwards continued to make good ground but despite this pressure, no further score was added and Croesy saw out the game without further alarms.
This was an encouraging performance from a Croesy team who next travel to Kidwelly on 23rd March.
Croesy ladies welcome new players if you would like to give rugby a try. Training takes place on Mondays and Thursdays 7.00pm, at Woodland Road Croesyceiliog.
