The Sardis Road club beat Aberavon in the 2011 Cup final and coach Paul John is looking forward to the challenge.

He said, “Cup rugby is an important element of the Premiership season and cup semi-finals are great occasions. We haven’t played Aberavon yet this season due to a match being postponed so we will now play them three times between now and the end of the season, starting with this weekend at Talbot Athletic Ground.

“They’ve been through quite a bit of change with Simon King leaving but they seem to have hit a bit of form of late. The SWALEC Cup means a lot to our supporters and it would be a tremendous achievement to make it four consecutive finals at the Millennium Stadium.”

In the other SWALEC Cup semi-final, Cross Keys, who have notched three away wins in their Cup run to date, will play Llandovery.

Cross Kes chairman Colin Vernall said, “Winning the SWALEC Cup final and getting to the British & Irish Cup final two years ago has generated a huge amount of interest in our club. We have played well in the Cup so far this season, winning three away fixtures – at Neath, Bedwas and Cardiff last week. It would be fantastic to get to another final but Llandovery will be no small challenge.”
