Biggar revelling in half-back partnership

Dan Biggar is loving life as one of the Ospreys’ half-back double act after the Wales playmaker helped upset the odds at Munster.

The Swansea region survived an onslaught in Ireland to emerge 14-19 winners at Thomond Park to maintain their 100% Guinness PRO12 record. 14 points from Biggar’s boot added to Jeff Hassler’s score after Munster had gone ahead through South African wing Gerhard van den Heever.

And the pivot was full-of-praise for Webb, who has already crossed for four tries this season after he successfully recovered from knee surgery in the summer.

“Rhys Webb deserves every bit of credit he’s getting and it’s making my job a hell of a lot easier. It’s a pleasure to play behind this fella at the minute, he’s absolutely on fire and for us to form a bit of a partnership it makes life a lot easier.”

The Ospreys’ perfect start has seen them put the sword to the Newport Gwent Dragons, Treviso, Edinburgh and most recently three-times champions Munster. They have racked up a league-leading 142 points and conceded just 55 so far, and Biggar reckons the sky is the limit for the developing Liberty Stadium side.

He said: “We’ve got a young squad, we’re making no excuses about that, but the way they toughed it out was great. But for us to come away with a win is what pleases us most. We’ve got four wins from four and that’s a big start for us to build on, who knows what we can go on and achieve this year

“Obviously we’re grabbing a few headlines for scoring a lot of tries but we know we have to take that with a pinch of salt. We know that the hard work comes in places like Thomond Park, this is what you earn your money for.”
