The Ospreys juggernaut could not be stopped by their regional rivals Cardiff Blues this weekend as they produced a dominant display in their 26-15 triumph on Sunday evening.
The Liberty Stadium side let two late tries from the visitors take the gloss off what was a powerful performance to make it six wins out of six for the Guinness PRO12 leaders.
And even though they are the only team in the Guinness PRO12, Aviva Premiership and Top 14 to still have a 100 percent record intact – Head Coach Steve Tandy has told his side they need to kick-on against Benetton Treviso on Sunday if they are to continue their winning-streak in Europe’s premier cup competition.
He said: “We know the standard does go up a notch in this competition and we need to be better than we were against the Blues if we are to get where we need to be. Opportunities in the Champions Cup don’t come around too often and when we get chances to score we need to take them.
“We need to be at our best every week, and if we are not at our best against Treviso, they have the players to really hurt us. They’ve got Favaro and Zanni back and they are two outstanding back-row forwards. They ran Connacht close on the weekend and they will improve.”
Ospreys kick-off their Champions Cup campaign at home against the Italians before a trip to Premiership table-toppers Northampton and back-to-back meeting with Racing Metro.
But Tandy’s sole focus is on the challenge of PRO12 strugglers Treviso, who they have already beaten 44-13 this season.
He said: “We need to get the win against Treviso first and then the game against Northampton will be a true test of where we are. But ultimately we have to win games and win them well in the Champions Cup, especially at home.
“Especially against a sides like Northampton and Racing Metro, they are true tests with the squads and finances they have got. We can’t wait to get into it but we can’t afford to take our eyes off Treviso.”
