The visitors were taught a torrid lesson as they lost the first half 28-0 and the second half 33-12. Ross Coombes scored twice for the home side and Josh Prosser landed six of the eight conversions.
To make matters worse for the students they lost a player to a red card for a tip tackle after 52 minutes.
Second placed Swansea picked up a bonus point in their 39-17 win over RGC 1404 in North Wales. Nicky Thomas was once again the star for the All Whites as he scored one of the five tries, converted four of them and scored two penalties for a match tally of 19 points.
A hat-trick of tries from Ashley Norton steered Pontypool to a 36-34 home win of Tata Steel in a game which both teams scored five tries.
Blackwood had eleven points from the boot of Scott Turner to thank for their 21-7 win at Newbridge while Narberth came from behind at Tondu to win 22-17.
Merthyr maintained their winning ways in a hard fought 12-3 home win over Bridgend Athletic. They had a try in each half, one of which Steve Lang converted.
There was agony for Llanharan as they outscored Glynneath by two tries to one yet lost at home 13-12. Jack O’Reilly was the visitors’ hero as he converted James Pikes’ try and added two penalties.
Nine try romp for leaders
Bargoed stretched their unbeaten run to eight games as they ran in nine tries against the students of Cardiff Met to stay four points clear of Swansea at the top of the SWALEC Championship.
