Bedwas were up and running from the start, Rory Budina crossing after only three minutes, Jack Maynard adding the conversion. Paul Davies crashed through for the second try a few minutes later, Maynard again adding the conversion. Two tries in two minutes, a second from Budina and one for lock Josh Walker both converted by Maynard put Bedwas 28-0 up inside 20 minutes.

Budina ran in for his try hat-trick after 31 minutes following a good break from Stuart Thomas, Maynard missing his first kick of the afternoon on this occasion.

Beddau heads didn’t drop and they were rewarded with a try just before half time when Jack Jonathan crossed from close range, Callum Wheeler adding the extras.
A much changed Bedwas XV in terms of personnel and playing colours took to the field for the second half.

Bedwas continued to attack and the forwards were rewarded for their efforts with the award of a penalty try, Maynard converting.

Dan Crimmins was next over the line out wide to the right of the posts, Maynard keeping up his kicking performance with a well taken conversion. Bedwas were not finished and Richard Wilkes found some space to crash through for his side’s eighth try of the afternoon, Maynard’s seventh successful place kick adding the extras.

With two minutes remaining Mathew John crossed for an unconverted try to complete a good win for the home side. It was a case of ‘Mission accomplished’ as Bedwas looked to blow away the cobwebs of inactivity ahead of a difficult Christmas programme, starting on Saturday at Cardiff Arms Park, kick-off 2-30pm.
