Climo to miss rest of season after leg break

Climo, who had scored two tries and been named as the man of the match, was carried off on a stretcher with only a few minutes of the game remaining. He will be out for the rest of the season.

A hat-trick of tries from Elliot Jones in the first half-an-hour set Keys on their way to a comfortable victory. Ethan Jones converted two of them and also added the extras to his side’s three second half tries from Leon Andrews (2) and Tom Lampard.

Climo bagged 16 of his side’s points in reply as he ran in two tries and kicked three conversions. The other home try came from Craig Price.

No 8 Dan Godfrey was another hat-trick hero over the weekend as he steered table-topping Pontypridd to a 41-3 home win over Llandovery. Godfrey struck twice in the first half and once in the second to help his team move five points clear at the top.

Lewis Jones, Matthew Nuthall and Aled Summerhill were the other try scorers for Ponty and Simon Humberstone converted four of them. Steffan Marshall kicked a penalty for the Drovers.

Scrum half David Pritchard bagged a brace of tries in Aberavon’s 23-7 away win over Bridgend at the Brewery Field. The victory moved the Wizards up to eighth in the table.

All the visitor’s points came from their half-backs as Cameron Clement joined in by converting both Pritchard tries and also landed three penalties. Bridgend’s only points came at the death when Aberavon were down to 14 men, the wing Tom O’Flaherty crossing for a try which Owen Howe converted.

Neath climbed out of the bottom two in the Principality Premiership table with a gritty 15-10 home win over Cardiff. The Welsh All Blacks were forced to fight back from a 10-0 deficit after Cardiff wing Tom Williams had intercepted and raced 80 metres for a try and Gareth Llewellyn had kicked a conversion and penalty.

But a yellow card issued to the Cardiff skipper Johnathan Edwards allowed James Thomas to get Neath on the scoreboard with a penalty and they were 15-10 ahead by the break thanks to two tries. The first came from wing Jamie Davies and the second from second row Jordan Collier, which Thomas converted.

The second half remained scoreless as the tension mounted, Cardiff replacement Will Rees-Hole missing a golden opportunity to clinch victory at the death when he knocked-on a few metres out from the Neath line.

Newport remain anchored to the bottom of the table after their 13th defeat in 16 games this season. This time it was a 42-14 reverse at home against Bedwas.

Bedwas picked up a bonus point as they ran in six tries, two apiece for Matthew John, Rory Budina and Aaron Pinches. Newport had tries from Owen Davies and Sam Feehan, both converted by Geraint O’Driscoll.
