The two west Wales primary schools – from Neath and Carmarthen respectively will play in the Primary Schools final at 12.30, while at 2.30pm, Llanelli’s Ysgol y Strade face Llanishen High in the Under 18 Final.

On Saturday, meanwhile, youth rugby takes centre stage at the home of Welsh rugby. For the first time, every youth team had the chance to play for a chance to reach the Millennium Stadium Finals Day, with a Plate and Bowl added to the WRU Youth Cup to make a three tier knock-out competition.

At 11am, Wattstown take on Ystradgynlais in a local derby for the Bowl title; Pontypool United play Rhydyfelin in the Plate final at 1.15pm and the WRU Youth Cup Final between current champions Penallta and Pontypridd will take place at 3.30pm, featuring a number of players who helped Wales Under 18 beat England last March.

Tickets for the WRU Youth Finals Day are £5 for adults. There is free entry for Under 16s but a ticket will be required to enter venue. Tickets will be available on the day from the WRU ticket office (8 Westgate Street) and from ticket booths on Gate 3 ramp.

The Under 14 and Under 16 Schools finals take place next Wednesday (22 April), while following Judgment Day III on Saturday 25 April, an Under 18 Girls East v West match will take place on Tuesday 28 April (3pm), the squads selected following the recent Regional Championship held during the Six Nations.

The culmination of this series of grassroots, age grade matches takes place on Wednesday 29 April with Coleg y Cymoedd hoping to make it third time lucky as they face Coleg Sir Gar in the final of the WRU Under 18 Wednesday League (5.15pm), live on S4C’s Rygbi Pawb. The same day, the finals of the DC Thomas Cup (12 noon) and Dewar Shield (2.30pm) take place, while senior club rugby will then take centre stage on Sunday 3 May with six clubs fighting it out at the SWALEC Finals Day

WRU Head of Rugby Josh Lewsey said, “We strongly believe that our schools, clubs and colleges are the lifeblood of the game in Wales. It is here that young people develop lifelong friendships and a deep love of the game, while improving rugby skills that will help them to reach their potential in the game.

“By hosting these finals at the Millennium Stadium, we hope to recognise the efforts of all players, coaches and volunteers who do so much to help grow and sustain the game in Wales. We hope everyone involved will be inspired by the experience – and I’m sure the teams will themselves inspire all those looking on from the sidelines.”

Later this year, the eyes of the rugby world will be watching Wales’ World Cup warm ups against Ireland (August 8) and Italy (September 5) and eight matches of Rugby World Cup 2015 action from September.
