The Drovers are just one point below the Wizards but they also have a game in hand.
Head Coach of the Wizards, Jason Hyatt said, “Last Saturday our players produced a performance we can be very proud of, although we did not get the result we wanted, the quality of rugby produced and the energy shown by all our players was outstanding. “
Llandovery have won 10 of their 16league games this season. They lost just one of their opening six games, going down 16-34 at Pontypridd at the start of October. Back-to-back defeats followed as the Drovers lost 8-22 at Aberavon and then 20-28 at Newport a week later. Llandovery then lost just another game in their next six games with the narrow 18-20 loss coming at Cross Keys at the start of December. In their last two league outings the Drovers have lost at Ebbw Vale (6-14) and 12-18 at home to Ponty. That reverse against the league leaders on Feb 13th is the only league game they’ve lost at home all season.
Wizards outside-half, James Garland returns to his former club this Saturday and added, “it will be good to go back to Llandovery to see some old faces, however, getting is a win is all I am concerned about and ensuring we are in the playoff’s”.
Head-to-head, Aberavon and Llandovery have met each other 39 times in the league with the Wizards leading the series 26 – 11 with 2 games drawn. At Church Bank, Aberavon lead the series 11 – 7 with 1 game drawn, but haven’t won at the ground since the 2010-11 season.
Hyatt added, “We have prepared very well and look forward to another exciting match and will be throwing everything into producing the same standard of rugby we produced against Pontypridd. I thought our support last Saturday was fantastic, and we would love to have you all with us again tomorrow.”
