Jennie is actively involved in the running of Carmarthen Quins while Tracey is a leading figure at Porthcawl RFC.
Jennie hasn’t looked back since taking her son Ethan to an open day in 2009.
“Ethan was playing so I went along and then found myself recruited as Team Manager for the Under 10s. I’ve been in the same position ever since – now I’m looking to rekindle the Under 16s to ensure the club has a youth team next year.”
With the introduction of the Cluster clubs, she is leading the way in setting up a cluster club called Myrddin Maidens.
Tracey is heavily involved in the administration side of things for a large club – she also leads on volunteer recruitment and training and has secured substantial funding for new lights at the club.
She has been behind the clubs culture of bringing together the minis, juniors, youth and seniors – creating a ‘one club’ mentality as opposed to separate identities for each of them.
So why do they do it? “I would encourage other women to get involved. It’s challenging, it’s fun, and there’s a great sense of community within the club. You don’t know where it’s going to take you or the opportunities it will open up for you,” Jenny responded.
