The Wales centre had been out of action for seven months, but looked as if he had never been away from the Principality Stadium turf. It took him 10 minutes to cross the try line before he setup Steffan Evans for a vital score.
The 34-20 triumph has kept the Scarlets’ play-off hopes alive. They must win at Munster this weekend and hope their regional rivals Ospreys beat Ulster. And Williams is determined to mark his comeback with a place in the top four.
He said: “It was great to be back out there. The comeback went better than I was expecting it to go, it’s good to be back, it’s been a long time. The boys have been great all season and it was good to be back amongst them, we put our last two defeats right today.
“It’s been tough on the sidelines, but I’ve kept my head down and worked hard on my rehab. I’ve got the conditioners to thank. I didn’t have any nerves out there, the boys were asking me if I was nervous but I was fine. We played at a good tempo throughout but gave them some points through ill discipline.
“It feels like I have just done pre-season and there is only one game left, but we have a big week now before Munster. After the Glasgow defeat (46-10) a couple of weeks ago the boys were really tough on themselves; they looked at the game and their own performances and I had a feeling after that we were going to put in a performance against the Dragons.
“We have won out in Munster before, we know we can do it and if we put in the same performance as we did against the Dragons, cut out some of the ill-discipline and errors, we have got a chance.”
