The 28-year-old second row forward spent the past three seasons at Bedwas has also played for Pontypool in the past, but is delighted to have secured a return to his home town club.
“I’m absolutely over the moon to be returning to Bridgend – it’s something I’ve always wanted to do one day. The opportunity has come around a lot sooner than I expected and I can’t wait for the season to start,” said Maiden.
“I’ve already noticed that there’s a great team spirit in the squad and that’s going to be important throughout the season. I’m really looking forward to playing in front of the Bridgend supporters again, they stick with the team regardless of the results and we’re looking forward to giving them some more to cheer about.”
Maiden could get his first chance to pull on the Ravens jersey again when new coach Matt Silva takes his side to Ampthill, in Berkshire, where one of their opponents could well be the 41-year-old former Tongan back row international Ma’ama Molitika. The ex-Celtic Warriors and Cardiff Blues flanker played 78 times for the Ravens between 1999-2003.
Silva’s new look side warmed-up for their trip to face a team that is coached by ex-Wales international Paul Turner with a 50-8 home win over Beddau last weekend. Garin Lougher 2, Rhys Thomas, Nicky Boyce, Ryan Davies, Ashton Evans, Matthew John and Jamie Murphy scored the tries, with 35 points coming in an excellent second half performance.
