Hong Kong return for Rosser and Williams

Wales Sevens have been bolstered by the return of Morgan Williams and Jared Rosser for this weekend’s Hong Kong Sevens.

The 21-year-old Williams, who has shown terrific form in the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series this year, returns to the squad after sitting out the Vancouver leg through injury. Rosser, 19, arrives fresh from his involvement in Wales’ U20 Six Nations campaign, and will be hoping to pick up where he left off in Dubai and Cape Town earlier in the season.

Both players link back up with a squad which is full of confidence after claiming the Challenge Trophy in Canada. “The squad are focusing hard on recapturing the form they showed in Vancouver and Las Vegas,” says head coach Gareth Williams, who believes consistency in selection has been a focal point this year.

“Our protocols and systems were pleasing in both tournaments, and this culminated in winning five of our six games in Vancouver and capturing our first piece of silverware this season.”

Williams is confident his team can reach the same levels of performance over the next two legs of the tournament, with the team heading to Singapore the following weekend.

“We have been working on small details that can make us that bit more efficient. We are ambitious about demonstrating our progress and development through achieving results at the highest level.”
