Wales’ record try scorer has been selected on the left wing, with his brother Dean, who has scored more than 230 tries for the Amman Valley side on the right wing for the National Bowl Final against Brett Davey’s Caerphilly. Their brother in law, Gavin Lewis starts at full back, while the side’s captain and No 8 Sean Mangan is also joined by his brother, prop Liam.

Amman United coach Tony Williams said, “Team selection was very difficult for this weekend. The squad is fit and healthy and we’ve used 40 players this season in our unbeaten run so the hardest part was cutting it down.

“It’s been great having Shane on board this year. He’s only played six games and he was lucky to get into the squad for the semi, but he’s definitely earned his place in the team for this one. It is a very close, community club and it will be great to have Shane, Dean and Gavin playing together, along with Sean and Liam. Dean’s been outstanding for us over the years, he’s a very sharp player too.

“We’ve got quite a few experienced players, including centre Matthew Brayley who has played in a Cup and Plate Final with Llanelli and Ammanford and scrum half Ryan Williams alongside a number of young players.”
Tony and fellow coach Gareth Davies joined up again at the helm of the club at the start of the season after previously helping the club win a number of League and Cup titles.

“It would be amazing to win on Sunday but the real prize is playing at Principality Stadium. We have seven coaches booked and all our ticket allocation sold I believe, I think we’ll have around 600 there on Sunday.” Maybe a few neutrals will turn out just to watch the wing wizard weave some magic too.
