The Cockerels wrapped up their glorious campaign with a 53-30 bonus-point win over Abertysswg on Saturday which was their 19th win from 22 games.
“We’re going as high as the club has ever been and it’s a big thing for us,” said a proud Thomas.
“As a club we’ve really been building for the past two years with our recruitment and this is the result. We’re already looking forward to next season.
“It’s been a fabulous season and to end it with seven bonus point wins on the bounce was excellent.”
The side reeled off 13 straight league wins to finish the season with the trophy while drew at Ynysddu and suffered only two narrow defeats – at Cwmbran and at home to Pontypool United.
There was also a memorable 27-16 home victory over One West champions Kidwelly in the round three of the WRU National Plate before they bowed out to eventual semi-finalists Abercarn.
“That result was the pinnacle of the season,” added Thomas. “To beat them when they came up here was a big scalp for us and the standout result.
“But, as far entertainment and watching the game are concerned, for me the other one to pick out was Ynysddu at home [won 37-13, April 8].
