It’s the second time in three seasons the title has gone to the Anglesey side – who will hope to retain their One North status next term having come straight back down last time.

Director of rugby Keith Withers said: “We’re back up in Division One – that’s the important thing – and it’s quite exciting to be back up there.

“It’s been a real collective effort and it’s definitely within our reach to be able to compete next season. The boys are going to be a year or two older and more experienced and the main target will be to stay up and then build from there.”

Looking back on the key moments from his side’s title-winning campaign, Withers said: “There’s a few to be honest.

“Earlier on in the season, it was obvious there were three quite strong teams in the North West division – ourselves, Dolgellau and Denbigh.

“We beat Denbigh twice and they didn’t score a point in those league games and we beat Dolgellau at home [42-15, January 28] which was one of our better performances this year.

“But I think the key phase for us was when we had four away games in a row in the second half of the season once the top four teams in West and East were amalgamated.

“We picked up 17 points from a possible 20 with three bonus-point wins and a draw from what was a really difficult period.”
