Tom Grabham has moved west from the Ospreys, Geraint Rhys Jones and Tom Prydie have switched from the Dragons, while Wales Sevens star Morgan Williams links up with the champions from Aberavon and the Ospreys Academy.
“Hot on the heels of news that former Aussie Sevens playmaker Paul Asquith will be joining us in early July, we’re delighted to confirm the addition of this exciting quartet to further bolster the backline,” said Jon Daniels, Scarlets General Manager.
“They have experience of playing in the PRO12 and will add strength in depth to the backline alongside the exciting local talent in Ryan Conbeer, Corey Howells and Ioan Nicholas. Pre-season is now underway and although many players are still away due to international commitments there is great excitement as we prepare to defend our PRO12 title.”
Rhys Jones, 29, returns to the region having made four appearances in Scarlets colours in 2011-12 whilst also attached to Wales Sevens. Jones represented Wales in the 2010 Commonwealth Games and went on to become Wales Sevens all time highest points scorer.
The full back spent the last four seasons at the Dragons, making 30 appearances and scoring 109 points. His Dragons team mate, 25-yer-old Prydie, rose to fame as the youngest player to play for Wales, and in the RBS 6 Nations, when he faced Italy in 2010 aged 18 years and 25 days.
Former Ospreys winger Grabham, 26, made 50 appearances over six seasons at the Ospreys and will add experience and depth to the back line long with fellow wing Williams. Originally from North Wales, the 2-yer-old Williams made his debut in the World Sevens Series in round eight of the 2015-16 season in Singapore.
In the fourth round last season’s series in Sydney, he became the first Welsh player to score a hat-trick against Fiji since Rhys Jones achieved the notable accolade four years earlier. He will continue to be contracted to Wales Sevens for 2017/18, when he will hope to compete at the World Cup and Commonwealth Games
