Cymoedd seek revenge in final re-run

Coleg Y Cymoedd have the chance to move clear at the top of the Welsh Schools & CoIleges League if they can maintain their unbeaten run when they meet reigning champions Coleg Sir Gar at Sardis Road (Tuesday, 24 October, 7.00pm)

It is a repeat of last year’s final in Cardiff, when Sir Gar stopped their arch-rivals from making it a hat-trick of titles, and the champions have had to give up home advantage because of the weather with the game being moved from Llandovery’s Church Bank ground to the artificial surface at Sardis Road.

Cymoedd have been the pace-setters all season with five consecutive victories and in the only fixture of the week a sixth successive success would move them four or five points clear of second placed Ysgol Glantaf.

While that will provide the Cardiff Blues academy college a huge incentive, the prospect of gaining revenge for last season’s final defeat should act as an even bigger catalyst. Sir Gar have already been beaten by Cardiff & Vale College (14-7) this season and a second defeat could leave them trailing Cymoedd by nine or 10 points with half-a-dozen of the 12 games played.
