Sir Gar looking to get back to winning ways

Sir Gar looking to get back to winning ways

Coleg Sir Gar will feel very much at home at Llandovery’s Church Bank ground when they travel to meet Llandovery College in the Tuesday night Live game in the Welsh Schools & Colleges League.

The reigning champions kicked-off their campaign at the same ground when they beat Newport HS 24-7. Since then, though, not everything has gone well for Sir Gar and they currently find themselves in fifth place and outside the play-off places.

While it is not quite time to panic yet for director of rugby Euros Evans, he knows his side can’t really afford to lose again if they are to stay in the mix to retain their title. They lost their last two games on the road, 52-20 against Coleg Y Cymoedd at Sardis Road, and 14-7 to Cardiff & Vale College.

Cymoedd are riding high at the top of the table, sitting on a five point lead over Ysgol Glantaf, While CAVC are currently fourth on the same points as Sir Gar. The resurgent Neath Port Talbot College are third.

Sir Gar’s hosts, Llandovery College, have won only once in five outings to date this season and will be hard pushed to make it two wins. Meanwhile, Glantaf travel to Cowbridge Comprehensive School to face CAVC in a top of the table battle between second and fourth.

NPTC also have home advantage, at The Gnoll, against Pembrokeshire Rugby side that has beaten Gower College and Whitchurch HS this season and went down by a point at Llandovery College.
