Have your say on Welsh rugby

The Welsh Rugby Union has joined forces with England, Ireland and Scotland on the first Home Nations participation survey and invites players of all ages past and present, officials, coaches, referees, volunteers and supporters to take part.

The survey aims to find out what motivates players and volunteers to participate in the game, the most enjoyable aspects and equally any areas of Welsh rugby that could be improved within clubs, schools, colleges and universities.

WRU Head of Rugby Participation Ryan Jones, said “This is another chance for all those involved in Welsh Rugby to have their say so that the next generation can continue to reap the many benefits rugby can bring to families and communities around Wales.

“Getting a better understanding of how people feel about our game and the various forms of it that we offer to players of all ages will help us to make grassroots rugby more relevant to modern families and overcome any barriers to achieving our purpose of More People, More Often with More Enjoyment and More Success.

“Joining forces with the other Home Nations will give us a wider perspective of issues affecting all northern hemisphere nations and society in general. We have used the learnings we gained from the Shape our Game survey in 2015 to make changes to second team club rugby and ease the transitions between junior and youth and between youth and senior rugby. Now we want to gain further knowledge to help key areas of the game such as how we interact and engage with our community coaches, referees, players, parents and supporters and how we support club volunteers and officials on their rugby pathway.”

All those who complete the survey will have the opportunity to be entered into a prize draw to win one of three pairs of tickets to one of Wales’ home NatWest 6 Nations 2018 match.
