Italy’s visit to Cardiff on Sunday 11th March is now the only opportunity – outside of official WRU hospitality, access via rugby club membership or official secondary market purchases – to watch Warren Gatland’s Wales at home in this season’s Championship, after the opener against Scotland also sold-out last week.
The meeting with France falls on the final weekend of the 2018 competition and immediately follows Wales’ home meeting with the Azzurri – meaning both matches are set to be hugely influential in the title run-in.
For Italy’s visit up to 48,000 new junior concessionary tickets were offered for the first time – priced at £20 for U16s – and this category remains available, with supporters also treated to two matches for the price of one as a unique international ‘curtain-raiser’ is debuted by the Welsh Rugby Union.

In 2012 Wales Women played Italy after the men’s Championship game in Cardiff, winning 30-13, in their only other appearance at the ground, but this is the first time a match of this kind has been played to entertain crowds in the build up to a game.
Wales take winning momentum from their climactic Under Armour Series victory over South Africa into the tournament, after supporters turned-out in their greatest numbers for almost a decade, across the four-match series (a total of 265,071 attended Principality Stadium this autumn, the highest overall attendance for the campaign since 2008).
All three equivalent Six Nations home fixtures, against Scotland, France and Italy, sold-out at Principality Stadium in 2016 before the tournament started and the expected high demand for tickets this year is already being borne out.
A seasonal guarantee means any orders for Italy tickets before 19th December will be received by Christmas Day, with a festive-card option also available at the time of purchase (this option must be chosen at online check-out).
“The best way to get hold of a ticket for a Wales international at Principality Stadium is, and always will be, from your local rugby club, who have priority access to tickets before we reach public sale and this has been proved once again this year,” said WRU chief executive Martyn Phillips.
“It can only be good for Welsh rugby that demand has been so high, with our Under Armour Series returning the best attendance figures for the best part of a decade and the opening NatWest Six Nations game against Scotland selling-out before reaching the stage of public sale.
“Now the France game has sold-out within a week of public sale and we fully expect the Italy match, which promises to be a fantastic day out for all the family, to follow suit.
“But our overriding message to supporters looking for tickets for any Six Nations game is to make sure they only buy from official WRU sources, where we can guarantee their purchases.
“As a not for profit organisation, all WRU proceeds are invested back into the game at all levels.”
The WRU has guaranteed its lowest price ticket for a Six Nations match at Principality Stadium will be frozen at £40 for at least the next two seasons, until 2020.
