The Pirates finished as top dogs in Division One East while also had their day in the spotlight at Principality Stadium where they defeated Nant Conwy to lift the WRU National Plate.
And, although ultimately the campaign ended on a losing note with defeat over two legs to Division One East Central champions Ystrad Rhondda that meant they missed out on promotion to the National Championship, that won’t take away what has been a tremendous season.
Brynmawr suffered only two defeats in their regular league season, both at the hands of Penallta, although the second reverse came three days after they secured the league title with victory at Nelson.
“The boys have been outstanding, it’s been a remarkable season really,” said secretary Rob Kershaw.
“We got off to a good start and when we beat Brecon at home at the end of September we knew we were in with a chance as they were one of the sides going for the league.
“The one game we lost came at the start of November when we went to Penallta.
“It was a tough day but was a bit of a wake-up call and we regrouped and didn’t lose again until we played them again but the league was already won.
“What has also been pleasing is the amount of ex youth players who have come through the system and were involved in the squad this year.”
Brynmawr won 20 of their 22 league matches while also won five games to go with a bye en route to the Principality where they beat Nant Conwy in the Plate.
